About

Salt Crown Campaign Vault is a ready-to-use Obsidian vault for game masters of any tabletop RPG — 5e-style d20 games, OSR-style, narrative systems, anything.

Unzip, open in Obsidian (free), and you have a campaign home with ten organised folders, nine templates with consistent frontmatter, and a dashboard that lists your active quests, NPCs by location, newest sessions and every unresolved plot hook. Install the free Dataview plugin and those tables fill themselves; skip it and the static lists still work. Zero plugins are required.

You also get a complete original starter campaign, The Salt Crown: a salt-crusted frontier town, a flooded cistern under the cliffs, two factions racing for a cursed relic, five NPCs with wants and secrets, three quests at three stages, two fully written sessions and a worked recap. Every template is shown filled in. Run it as-is, or delete it and keep the structure.

GM tools included: original name tables, a d20 rumour table, coastal weather, mid-scene complications, a quick NPC generator, three one-page frameworks for when players go off-rails, a 30-minute prep checklist, an initiative tracker, tiered loot tables and a system-agnostic combat reference.

48 plain-markdown notes. No proprietary format, no lock-in — it's your text, forever.

Made with substantial AI assistance. All content is original; no third-party game text or trademarks. Personal-use licence.

FAQ

Do I need any plugins? No. Everything works in a fresh Obsidian install. The free Dataview plugin is optional and only makes the Dashboard tables auto-update.

Which game systems does it support? Any. Threats are described in tiers (minion/standard/elite/boss) and difficulty bands, with a conversion note for d20-style, OSR-style and narrative systems. There are no stat blocks to translate.

Can I use it for a game I'm paid to run? Yes. The licence covers your own games, paid or free. You just can't resell or share the vault itself.

Is the starter campaign long? It's a short arc: a town, a dungeon, two factions, three quests, two written sessions. Enough for 3-6 sessions, and every note shows you how the templates are meant to be used.

Does it work on mobile? Yes. It's plain markdown; Obsidian mobile reads it. Dataview also runs on mobile if installed.
